The sand bed calculator works out the volume and weight of sand needed to form a levelling base under a foundation, paving, or a screed.
Volume (m³) = length × width × thickness × (1 + waste%) Weight (t) = volume × 1.6 t/m³
A 5 × 4 m pad, 15 cm layer, 10% waste. Volume: 5 × 4 × 0.15 × 1.1 = 3.3 m³. Weight: 3.3 × 1.6 = 5.3 t.
