The rebar calculator works out the total bar length and weight for laying a reinforcing mesh in a slab foundation, a floor slab, or a screed.
Bars along the length = (⌊width / spacing⌋ + 1) × length Bars along the width = (⌊length / spacing⌋ + 1) × width Total with waste = sum × layers × (1 + waste%) Weight of Ø12: linear metres × 0.888 kg/m
A 5 × 5 m slab, 0.2 m spacing, 1 layer, Ø12, 10% waste. Lengthwise: 26 × 5 = 130 m. Crosswise: 26 × 5 = 130 m. Total: 260 × 1.1 = 286 m → 48 bars of 6 m → 254 kg.
