The parquet / engineered board calculator estimates the number of packs needed to cover a room, taking into account the laying pattern and its extra waste percentage.
Area with reserve = floor area × (1 + reserve%). Reserve: straight lay 10%, diagonal 15%, herringbone 20%. Packs = area with reserve ÷ m² per pack (rounded up).
Room 5 × 4 = 20 m², diagonal laying (+15%), pack covers 2.0 m²: 20 × 1.15 = 23 m² ÷ 2.0 = 12 packs.
