Brick Calculator — Free Online Calculator

Calculates the number of bricks needed to build a wall or structure.

What is it?

The brick calculator works out how many bricks you need for your walls, taking into account the bond thickness (half-brick, one-brick, one-and-a-half) and deducting window and door openings.

Formula

Masonry area = perimeter × height − openings Brick rate: one-brick bond (250 mm) — 102 bricks/m²; half-brick (125 mm) — 51 bricks/m² Add 5% for breakage and cutting

Example

House 6 × 8 m, wall height 3 m, four windows 1.5 × 1.4 m, two doors 0.9 × 2.1 m. Perimeter = (6 + 8) × 2 = 28 m. Area = 28 × 3 − (4 × 2.1 + 2 × 1.89) = 84 − 12.18 = 71.8 m². One-brick bond: 71.8 × 102 × 1.05 ≈ 7,690 bricks.
